Bug Description

Is Eclipse 3.2 going to hit the Edgy repositories? It's new Callisto feature (simultaneous releases) should ease the process of preparing gcj precompiled packages working well together.

Personally, I think it is worth giving a try, even if this would mean requesting UVF exception (upstream freeze is at 2006-07-13). However, I have no idea how complex could it be and if the time left to beta freeze (2006-09-21) would be enough to prepare it.

I know of no better place to request the package upgrade, thus reopening.

I wish it would be upgraded too. Visual Editor is a must have for me, and currently I´m not able to install it.

I've run into 5 plugins in the past week which seem to be 3.2-only, so I'm about to remove edgy's Eclipse-3.1 and download a new version directly from the website. It'd be really nice to get the new version in for Edgy, but if not then I really would like to see it for edgy+1!

Is it too late in the cycle for this to get into Edgy or is there still hope?

Make that four. Nobody wants to use 3.1 now that 3.2 is out...

To be honest, I was really surprised to find that Edgy DOESN'T have 3.2. Who would still want to use 3.1?

It is likely to happen thanks to UVF exception filed in bug 67657.
