Leonardo Pistone (leop) wrote : thunderbird also, possible related bug, behaviour when crashed

This affects thunderbird also for me. Things were fine with dapper flight 3, and the bug appeared after updating all the packages.

bugzilla.mozilla.org #281798 might be connected.

when crashed the panel and other application freeze to, but killing firefox from a text console brings them back to life.

thanks

This exact same problem now also show in epiphany, this other gecko based browser.

ii epiphany-browser 2.14.1-0ubuntu2 Intuitive GNOME web browser

Leonardo, it might be helpful to know if this is ppc-specific. Did you too encounter this bug on ppc?

Leonardo Pistone (leop) wrote : Epiphany unaffected on ppc

I'm currently using Epiphany instead of Firefox, and it works fine. The last updates as of today don't solve the problem in firefox and thunderbird.

firefox 1.5.0.2-0ubuntu1
libc6 2.3.6-0ubuntu17
mozilla-thunderbird 1.5-0ubuntu6
epiphany-browser 2.14.1-0ubuntu2

Actually sometimes Epiphany crashes too, silently. The window stays open but it is crashed, and nothing is printed in the terminal. I don't know if that is connected. Still, firefox crashes in a couple of seconds, Epiphany in some 10 minutes.
