Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox

The firefox package in Ubuntu Dapper, currently 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.3-0ubuntu2, introduces rendering errors on some pages that do not exist in vanilla firefox.

For example http://www.netstar.se/ is rendered terribly with the Ubuntu firefox version, while firefox in Debian sid (1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.3-2) or firefox on Win32 (1.5) or under MacOS X renders the page correctly.

This leads me to believe that some Ubuntu specific patch is the cause of this behaviour.

I have a few screenshots at: http://qw.se/~hawk/dapper/
that illustrate the problem.

Just for the record (and to no surprise considering the changelog) this problem remains in the new version in Dapper, 1.5.dfsg+1.5.0.3-0ubuntu3.

Thanks for your bug reports.

Can you reproduce the errors with the latest firefox in dapper. 1.5.08 I believe.

I would just like to add that I suspect that the problem remains, unless something was done specifically to address this in the 1.5.0.8 package.
(The problem always was specific to the Ubuntu packages, so I doubt upstream fixes will make any difference.)

I don't have easy access to the Ubuntu 1.5 version of Firefox anymore, though. I currently run Ubuntu 6.10, and the Firefox 2.0 packages do not have this bug.
