Your testingteam page suggests you've not yet determined whether or not the brightness buttons work at all.

Can you please confirm if there is a programmatic way to adjust the brightness of your screen using dapper?

Install Dapper Flight 3 + Update to 02/15/06

In Keyboard (Hardware)
Fn + F7 = Lower luminosity monitor [Ok]
Fn + F8 = To raise luminosity monitor [Ok]

Suggest some program to prove luminosity.

Okay, so clearly the buttons actually do something. That's a good start.

I don't see any acpid scripts for managing brightness on a compaq which suggests it's managing the brightness entirely in hardware unless I'm missing something

can you please monitor /var/log/acpid /var/log/daemon.log and /var/log/syslog while pressing your brightness adjustment keys to see if anything is logged?

Low and I have raised the luminosity by several minutes in notebook, and have reviewed at great length the archives acpid, daemon.log, syslog. In case they have undergone some change, this not happened. The monitoreos tests/were careful. As I can help him more?

This suggests the lcd brightness changes were made in hardware and never touched the software.

Currently I don't know what to suggest, if I come up with something I'll let you know, sorry.

We need code for managing brightness on compaq notebooks before we can continue with this bug, for now, I'm setting it to needsinfo and low priority

Single it wished to confirm that the bellboys who control the brightness of the monitor do it through hardware.

It was working with Ubuntu Dapper Flight 3 + Update and firefox 1.5.1 in my notebook, when this on position of exaggerated way. As much that almost no key worked. Confir to me because bloq presses several times the button "num" that ignites a light when this activated and is extinguished when it is deactivated.

This light I never work, so that the system was with a high load (probably bug of another application) and not responding to the actions of the keyboard and touchpad.

Thanks to this I could prove the bellboys of the brightness of the monitor disminuyendo(Fn+F7) and aumentando(Fn+F8) the brightness. This worked without nor a delay.

This allows to clarify that the control of the brightness of the monitor is not controlled by software if not by hardware.
