Bug Description

es-gsp on dapper appears to be choking on various input causing cups to be unable to print. while running lpr on a .txt file works, and so the the print test page button of the printing setup tool, trying to print from evolution results a failure to print, with cups blaming es-esp.

I've attached a few cups error_logs in case they may help.

Same problem for me. The problem occurs only with certain gs drivers, e.g cdj600 and cdj800, the x11 driver displays the file correctly. Furthermore the ps file has to be created by gimp print. Ps files from other sources are printing without problems. Therefore I'm not sure, if the reason is a problem in gs or gimp print.

Attached is a ps file generated by gimp print, which triggers the problem. This file is displayes with the x11 driver correctly but the cdj600 driver doesn't work.

gs-esp is broken. I installed gs-gpl and using galternatives, set the gs-gpl to be default. Now I can print again, but that is a workaround I don't expect anyone not very familiar with Debian/Ubuntu system internals to figure out. Please fix this before the dapper release, printing is rather important.

I have reproduced this and established the cause but not the correct fix.
I've reported it upstream and we'll see what they say.
