Bug Description

When you are in the the first 10 seconds of a song and you press previous, playback will pause for a moment, and then seek forward into the current song you are playing. This is with an mp3 using rhythmbox from dapper.

Thanks for your bug. Do you have gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly installed?

Is that happening only on one mp3 or with all your .mp3? Does it happen with .ogg too?

Wouldn't this be a gstreamer issue?

We had some discussion on the bug on IRC but the description is not clear. Could you give an example of what file you play, where you are placed to the song and where you are moved when pressing the previous button? Does "rhythmbox -d" prints something useful on the topic?

Alright here is a more clear description.

I choose to play a song in my library. We'll use 'Led Zeppelin - Moby Dick.mp3' for example. This mp3 has been ripped and encoded using grip and lame.
Next, the song begins to play. Let's let the song play for a while. Perhaps to 0:13 seconds.
I press the Previous button. Rhythmbox will pause for a moment. Next, the slider will increase to ~23 seconds, and playback will continue. Nothing really interesting or ontopic is posted when I run with the debugging information printed. If someone would like a song be sent to them for testing purposes only, I would be glad to do so.

ALSO: Mp3 files that I have not ripped seem to work fine (ie: downloaded from external sources). Here are my grip options:
Ripper: cdparanoia (default options)
Encoder: lame
  bitrate: 256

This maybe could be caused by bug #35843...

hm could you upload such mp3 somewhere? but only up to the first 30 seconds or something to stay legal :)

Try that. With this demo, you need to press previous at about 5 seconds. Perhaps it's a percentage of the song rather than a set time.

(This is hosted on my desktop machine, so bear with me)

Hm, could you attach the file here? I get a timeout from the url you mentioned above

interesting... i can confirm this bug here.
when doing previous at ~5 seconds it simply continues playback but is silent for some seconds. this happens with rhythmbox and banshee so let's re-assign this to gst-plugins-ugly0.10 for now as it only happens with mp3s...
