Bug Description

When I double click on a picture, I often want to see other pictures in the same folder.
But there's no prev/next button available !

Go to the parent folder with Alt+end then double click on the picture and... MAGICAL MYSTERY TOUR... a lot of buttons appear ! (Next/Prev/Comment/ ...)

This behaviour is really non-intuitive and non-consistant. A lot of users are complaining about this around me.

My suggestion is simply open all pictures as if they were opened in the gthumb folder view

"now default behaviuor is to use the browser mode, you can still use the viewer
with the --viewer command line option." is now part of CVS, which will be uploaded to Ubuntu in gthumb's next release.
