Bug Description

(Copied from ubuntu-devel)

Another important addition would be to allow backup to a particular
path, rather than being limited to the "backup media". Allowing the gtk
file chooser to choose a path would even allow functionality for network
backup, or undetected media.

Wouldn't this require gnome-vfs?

Unless the filesystem was mounted in with /etc/fstab or manualy with mount -t [nfs, samba] it would require gnome-vfs, yes. However. If its mounted into the filesystem its no longer a "network backup" its a "Local backup" over a network.

This is now possible with the current version in Edgy. Using a stock GNOME file selector, everything that is mounted under the file system tree can now be used as backup target.
