Bug Description

We are in the process of switching our clusters to breezy, however when testing our installation procedue (using FAI) on one of the nodes in our cluster consisting of HP DL145 with dual Opteron 248 and 8GB memory I get a kernel oops almost every time at the first boot after installation and sometimes when i reboot after that. It is repeatable but as I said it does not always happen.

We are using linux-image-2.6.12-10-amd64-k8-smp (2.6.12-10.26). I have also tested with linux-image-2.6.12-9-amd64-k8-smp with the same result.

I will attach the oops to the report.

Also happens occasionally on a machine equipped with Tyan motherboard and dual Opteron 248. This machine also has the primary console on a serial port, and has the console parameter defined as follows:
console=tty0 console=ttyS0,115200n8r

Using only:
console=ttyS0,115200n8r
didn't work reliably either. First time the machine installed and rebooted flawlessly. The second time I had to press the reset button eight times before the machine booted without oopsing. Yay?

Is this still a problem in Edgy or Feisty?

Well, we moved to Dapper instead of Breezy and none of can remember seeing this problem with the kernel in Dapper.

I guess this bug can be closed.
