Bug Description

Binary package hint: linux-image-2.6.17-3-686

After update to new kernel, cannot boot due to a kernel panic caused by the ata driver. Will post a screenshot soon.

I could'nt get log.
I just saw the kernel panic when ata (libata) modules were loaded.

If I disable sata controler in bios, kernel boots fine
Info about controler :
IDE interface: Intel Corporation 82801EB (ICH5) SATA Controller (rev 02)

That's what happened to me; however, I can't disable SATA on this
laptop.

This is with 2.6.17-3 and newer

looks like bug 51308.

Some bugs are marked duplicates of this bug, but they are not related.
This is _NOT_ related to the hdX->sdX change.

Ack, i never though I would say this... i miss bugzilla. Launchpad is soooooo hard to navigate. Too much in one place.
