ldm does not show any feedback on why login failed

Bug Description

I think ldm should be much more informative when login fail.
basic reporting should include:
* no route to host
* connection refused
* bad ssh key an the likes
* auth failed
* all went fine but.... ["your session was shorter than 10 seconds" like message]

when network-connectivity is missing, it could even appear on the login screen BEFORE trying anything else.

PS: otherwise, the new ldm in dapper is very nice :)

Verson 399 and onwards in scotts-gutsy tree now beginning to give feedback (bad password, etc, no ssh_key setup, etc).
