Bug Description

When unmounting a USB drive or CD-Rom via the desktop (right-click on desktop icon, and select "unmount"), a dialog box called "removing media" appears. It has a progress bar, and lets you know that the system is completing any writes to the device. When this dialog box goes away, it is safe to unmount the device.

This dialog box is awesome.

What is not awesome, is that unmounting the deivce anywhere else (say, by right-clicking on the same icon in the "Tree" pane of nautilus) does _not_ produce the same dialog box. I really, really think it should produce this dialog box whenever any representation of the icon is right-click-unmounted, be it the Places pane, the Tree pane, the desktop, or wherever else the device "appears".

I _think_ this is a nautilus thing, but it could well be dbus, kernel, or hal.

Setting the package to nautilus-media. I agree that the "removing media" dialog is useful for feedback and should appear when unmounting devices.

I was not able to see this dialog at all in Feisty. Was it removed?

No, it appears that its a notification message in Feisty, and not its own dialog box. And it doesn't appear at all (it seems) if there is no data to write to the device and it just unmounts.
