Bug Description

Th Ubuntu`s patched verion of QT libs brakes the Opera rendering process. There is something bad with font sizes, all pages rendered by shared Opera version 9.XX are bad (text proportionals is bad). Example:

Bad version: http://tanecni-olomouc.cz/temp/kde1.png
Good version (Konqueror, opera-static): http://tanecni-olomouc.cz/temp/kde2.png

(Please ignore the shadow of the Katapult program in the middle of the screen).

I know Opera is closed source program but Opera ASA is not able to test their program under all distributions. It is ok under other Linuxes (Mandriva, SUSE, Red Hat...). There must be some "strange" patch of the QT library. I am using the static version for now but I would love to use the shared (normal) version as other distribution users do.

I am sending a bug report to Opera too with the link for this page. I hope Ubuntu and Opera ASA developers will solve this inconvinience. Thanks in advance.

I have tested Opera 9.2 snapshot and its gone! They fixed it, we`ll just have to wait for the final version (this weekly is a bit unstable). Thanks for cooperation.

You can close the bug, this cannot be fixed by Ubuntu developers.

Sorry I was talking about Opera 9.1 (not 9.2).

It seems guys at AbcLinuxu.cz have found a workaroud for current stable versions. You have to run Opera under English locales and it works fine:

# LC_ALL=en opera
