Bug Description

I use gnome-vfs to access some remote files on a ssh server.
I can drag and drop files into totem playlist, but droping a directory doesn't work.

I get the following message :

"
Totem could not play 'sftp://XXX@XXX:22/mnt/musique/'.

could not read from resource
"

I've tried it, and Totem does indeed fail at loading a directory loaded over an SSH connection (using either ssh:// or sftp://), although it works with files over SSH, and files and directories over other VFSes such as SMB. Confirming.

Thanks for your bug. That seems to be a gnome-vfs issue, I've forwarded it upstream: http://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=340228

I submitted a patch some times ago upstream about this bug.

As an ubuntu user, I would like to see it included into dapper.

Could you take a look at it ?

Thank you for working on that. It seems that the patch is discussed upstream so we will wait that they are happy with before to backport it to dapper

Did it ever land? Or is the bug still open?

It has never been applied upstream, because there's still some issues with my patch.

This bug is not present in gvfs. I tested with ubuntu 9.04, and everything works OK.
However, it no longer makes sense to make this bug belongs to gnome-vfs. It used to appear in totem, totem now use gvfs, so it doesn't appear anymore ... and nobody care about gnome-vfs.
I suggest to close this bug.
