Edgy - switching from X to a vc i get black screen

Bug Description

some days ago after an upgrade i noticed that switching from X to any of the 6 vc i got just a black screen.
what is worst is that if i kill the xserver (ctrl alt <--) and gdm doesn't restart for whatever reason i do not have any other option but to perform a hard reboot.
Unfortunately i cannot state after what upgrade it happened.
anyway the upgrades i performed recently (at least immediately before and after this event) did not include the installation of any major pkg.
should you need any further info, please let me know.

today after an upgrade the above problem has disappeared.

This seems related to usplash. I tried to boot Ubuntu Knot3 with and without usplash support. During the first try vc's are not shown, while with usplash out the way everything seems go right.
It seems later versions are not affected. I'm going to look at some changelogs in order to close this bug report.

It seems usplash version 0.4-31 fixed this. Anyway, remember to pass vga= parameter to the bootloader in order to avoid any trouble.
