Bug Description

Binary package hint: gdm

I'm running Edgy on a Dell C810 with the ATI and the R128 driver.
There is no error message to speak of however everytime I close the screen X resets with the same Message as when I perform an x reset with ctrl+alt+bkspc.

This error did not occur in any version until now. Ubuntu has been on here since Breezy

All power management is set do nothing when screen closes. Logs included below.

Thanks for your bug. Do you have anything to /var/log/Xorg.0.log after the crash? Does it happen if you start your session without gdm?

Forgive me but I don't know how set it up so that it does not use GDM. I will look into this however heres the bottom of the Xorg.0.log. I closed the lid at the time listed next to AUDIT:

If i modify the xserver to run with no acpi the issue does not occur, however disabling acpi is not an optimal solution.

Thank you, happens without gdm and seems to be due to xorg itself, reassigning then

Thanks for reporting this bug.

This sounds like debian bug 409443, which they report fixed as of xserver 1.3, available in Gutsy.
http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=409443

If the problem still occurs on gutsy, please reopen this and we'll look into it more deeply.
