Silva dLCMS is a learing content management system based on the concept of small modular learning objects (content elements), which can be aggregated to learning units. It is designed for the creation and management of structured, textual content as well as the integration of multimedia into the content elements. Silva dLCMS allows users to create new content elements and learning units as well as edit existing documents using a web interface.

Graphical style and layout of the content can be defined in a flexible way through the use of the Silva page templating system. Complete learning units can be exported as packages (zip-files) compatible with the IMS Content Packaging version 1.1 (http://www.imsglobal.org/) or confomant to SCORM CE RTE 1.2 and 1.3.

Silva dLCMS stores the content in a structured format (XML), and keeps a strict separation between the way the content is used and the way it is presented.

Silva dLCMS is an extension product of the open source CMS called Silva and is based on Zope.
