Bug Description

1) Install Xubuntu 6.06 LTS
2) Install with Easyubuntu 3.0 Stable win32 codecs (propiertary, etc.)
3) open terminal and try to run one of the commands:
mplayer http://www.er.ee/klassik/klassik.ram
mplayer http://www.r2.ee/stuudio.ram

... or any other *.ram stream.

Result is:
Win32 LoadLibrary failed to load: avisynth.dll, /usr/lib/win32/avisynth.dll, /usr/local/lib/win32/avisynth.dll

... and nothing will play :(

mplayer -playlist http://www.er.ee/klassik/klassik.ram
mplayer -playlist http://www.r2.ee/stuudio.ram

gives some sort of messages that the stream is faulty.

For example
mplayer -playlist http://www.bbc.co.uk/fivelive/live/surestream.ram
plays just fine.

Note that nether of the files you say exist are the one mplayer is looking for. avisynth.dll is not the same as either avimszh.dll or avizlib.dll.

I read elsewhere on the web that this problem can be solved by finding and installing avisynth.dll (try at www.sf.net and search for avisynth) but this seems overly complex. In all cases I come acros, the problem is solved by using the -playlist option of mplayer or, for mplayer and others:

  mplayer `wget -O - -q URL`

which just fetches the short .rpm file and hands the contents to mplayer (or totem or xine or...).

Yes, thanks to Jaanus: -playlist solved this.
That's true, radio stream links are changing quite often but when I tested it, these streams were played in Realplayer well. I installed newest Realplayer from www.real.com and tested those streams - they played, only mplayer could not play them. Therefore I reported this bug.
