Comment 19 for bug 1424815

I'm picking this up on behalf of MassLNC. After reviewing the previous code and the issues and conflicts that have been brought up, I'm thinking of taking a frontend approach, gathering the text after it's been fetched and then shortening it. I believe this would avoid the highlighting incompatibility.
