The Facsimile "trunk" series represents the primary line of development rather than a stable release branch.

Typically, only two types of modification are accepted on the trunk: merges (either bug fixes from the most recent release series or new features from completed new feature development series) and bug fixes. Even then, bug fixes are only accepted in order to stabilize the trunk series prior to a new release branch being created.
