Oddly, it fixed itself in the past few days -- not sure what was going on. During that time, I reinstalled my OS (upgrading to Ubuntu 11.10beta2), though I kept my Firefox profile intact -- the upgrade may have reset some internal piece of Gnome state that was causing trouble.

So, this is WORKSFORME in my normal Firefox profile now.

Jonathan, can you still reproduce this bug (in a recent Firefox or Thunderbird build off of m-c)?
