This is actually a problem with using the test data as it stands. The img06.jpg image has the same exposure time as the img05.jpg as it crashes.

The fix for this bug will be to add checking of the exposure time to the user interface and not allow merging to take place. Also the code shuld handle the SameExposureTimeException being thrown better. At the moment it cause the GIMP to report that the internal state of the GIMP has been compromised. Not a good message for users.

This bug is high priority to be fixed.
