I can confirm this problem. I have a Dell Inspiron 17R SE 7720 notebook. And my fan after installing i8k is switched on and off every two seconds, and the system at this time freezes

I try uubuntu 11.10/12.04/12.10/13.04/13.10/14.04

This bug still unfixed
