Hi everyone,
I experienced this bug today, as well (running Windows 7 64bit).
But neither did I need to restart nor did I have to reinstall to be able to launch Inkscape again.
When the error occurred (and it was reproducible each time) the other applications running where Microsoft Outlook 2007, Mozilla Firefox 9.0.1 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2008.
I then closed all applications because I wanted to do a reboot to solve the problem (as mentioned above).
Just before I clicked 'reboot', I decided to give it another try - and voilà Inkscape started right away.
Unfortunately, by closing Inkscape and restarting the applications and then starting Inkscape again I could not yet trigger the segfault again. Inkscape starts up fine.
Even if these pieces of information might not be very helpful I wanted to share them with you. Maybe anyone can make sense of this. Perhaps it is some sort of "library conflict" (i.e. another application uses one of the libraries inkscape needs and something goes wrong) ? But that is just a long shot...
