Not sure who you are asking (there does not seem to be a "needinfo" flag in launchpad...).

You are right in saying that the commands in step 4 and 5 are generalized commands. However, it still seems a bit confusing to me to introduce a variable in step 3 and then not use it for the rest of the procedure (apart from the example in step4)...
