Bug Description

I am a kurd from East of Kurdistan (iran) , when I choose kurdish language in the language selector, it shows (Turkey) infront of Kurdish.
I am not nither turk nor citizen of turkey . I am Kurd and Kurdistani.
and I dont like to see turkey's name infront of my language .
please fix it.

where is kurdistan ? look in answers.com

Thanks for your bugreport and sorry for this mistake.

I fixed the display in my bzr repository and it won't display "turkish" anymore in the default language combobox.

The locale itself (that is selected) will still be "ku_TR" because we don't have any other locale in the belocs-locales package for kurdish. If that should be changed, we will need to file a seperate bugreport (or task) with patch against belocs-locales to include a differnet kurdish locale.

For the language support in fact the DIALECT and the SCRIPT of Kurdish is much more important than the COUNTRY. Because for instance in Iran and Iraq, the Latin and the Arabic script are used.

As there is no locale and no support for the arabic script yet, to remove the country is probably best. In the future we can think of different solutions for this.
