The AuthServer should automatically fail to a redundant read only database when production becomes unavailable, notifying this action via email, and should symmetrically notify and switch back after production returns.

Whiteboard
Stuart says: "IIRC, the original goal of Authserver caching was to allow the wikis to continue to be useful during database outages. Such as were occuring for a few hours every week for production updates. Since then, procedures have been updated so our outages are much less. So it is no longer as critical as it was. It would still be useful from a redundancy POV, but I suspect it is now lower priority to other tasks."
And I (Andrew Bennetts) agree.
