Hmm, interesting. I don't have any idea myself how to debug a boot failure like this I'm afraid. I do have another change queued up that makes the images more like the ones from June: https://code.launchpad.net/~mwhudson/debian-cd/half-the-grubs/+merge/387085 -- but I don't at all understand why this would affect bootability. I guess we'll see if it helps...
