Add software via Synaptic (or apt-get/aptitude) will take care of all dependencies for you.
Installing individual packages (from getdeb for example) with dependencies can be a pain. But, when you double click on the .deb it should tell you what packages to install to meet the dependencies. For example the red text "Error: Dependency is not satisfiable: some-package". In that case you would need to install "some-package".
Is your situation different and causing you to find and install the dependencies manually?
