When I apt-get install cmap-adobe-japan1,
/var/lib/defoma/scripts/x-ttcidfont-conf.defoma calls /usr/bin/mkcfm, but there

I have this same problem when trying to install cmap-adobe-cns1 for chinese fonts. Does mkcfm being 'impossible' to distribute mean that we're never going to see this thing work? Why are the cmap- packages still even there if this is the case? This seems like a pretty fundamental problem.

We can distribute mkcfm if the license terms are changed by the copyright holder. Perhaps someone could get in touch with SGI and bring this problem to their attention?

I am closing this bug because in short the mkcfm and associated font system got deprecated by upstream. It will likely never be touched by anyone anymore. Furthermore there is no SGI anymore to ask any permissions from. For more information please see
