I can also confirm this. I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 amd64, Sapphire ATI Radeon HD 3850 AGP running on fglrx 9.6 from AMD.

Video playback on Totem and tvtime is very slow when running compiz. Playback is fine when not running compiz.
