Just as a note, the KDE bug seems to be referring mainly to gapless _track_ playback (ogg, flac, mp3 etc.). Is it clear this is the same problem as gapless _CD_ playback?
The developer who resolved the KDE bug with a "works for me" noted, "[T]his bug is not valid with proper hardware and a proper current software set." Unfortunately he doesn't provide any hints as to what those are or what the appropriate configuration is. :-( He also suggests the problem is with xine and not Amarok.
One question: the "crossfading" option in Amarok does not allow a value smaller than 400ms. On some other media players gapless playback is obtained by turning crossfading on but setting the time to 0. Could this be relevant?
