Provides support for later versions of FFmpeg

This patch provides support for the more recent versions of FFmpeg. It still
supports for the existing pre-built Windows and Mac FFmpeg binaries. It also
incorporates the fix for bug #274 and provides compile-time verification of
FFmpeg function call prototypes.
