I rebooted my Lubuntu/2 thumb-drive, it didn't occur to me to check what [release] was on it, but by comment #4 on this thread it's most likely 22.04.1 (focal.5 is on Lubuntu/1)

I tried using KDE Partition Manager to create a ~51GB partition using the free space in the live session... error just like calamares got.

A quick `sudo apt install gparted` & attempted the same there was successful... so whatever issue is creating partition, it's common with calamares & KDE Partition Manager, but doesn't impact `gparted`.
