Sorry to say, but it still doesn't work for me after upgrade (kubuntu, amd64, Canon Pixma IP4500):

cups/error.log says: Weird page contents

and running the pdftopdf filter on the command line with

/usr/lib/cups/filter/pdftopdf 1 1 1 1 '' in.pdf > out.pdf

also says:

ERROR: Weird page contents
