This won't block unless we can get some compelling numbers about performance improvements. cc'ing shorlander, limi and faaborg (see comment 47) to take a look at the visualization.

I like the idea of progress indication as part of the throbber, though it has some problems due to the way we report progress. For instance, try loading a tinderbox log with this patch and you'll see pretty strange behaviour where it will look like the browser has locked up :(
