CTRL + C is the copy hotkey. CTRL + W is the close tab hotkey. Could you have a corrupt profile possibly? Please try a new profile and let us know if that helps. You don't need to delete your old profile to test.

I had someone attempt to reproduce this on karmic and they could not.
