In the interest of this bug not getting completely side tracked from the build date issue:

Locale/Security are other bugs as noted already.

The Mobile deviceType was just removed last night from the UA, and was wontfix either (bug 524339), but the code is gone now (bug 580341), so sites cannot sniff for Nokia, N900, or Sprint or what have you. The Android Mobile devices sends the device id in the UA and the carrier, so in that case you can easily fingerprint, consider Firefox doesn't have it, I guess that is a plus.

In the case of Mozillazine, the UA strings for all the other posts are revealed when you your self are logged in, not by viewing the forums from the outside. So poster can see ever ones's post and make comments about the build their using.

IE is starting to get messy with adding add-ons to the UA as Firefox extensions also adding cruft to the UA, for example GetGlue.

So build date compared to IE should probably really be the parity part here, not the addon's or people using the extra.* as noted in bug 581008.

I think Henri has good points, we should start somewhere. So with that in mind, there are bugs open for many issues. This not the only one. This should stay with the build date issue and what to do about it.
