What Karl says in comment 25, namely that we need a backtrace from a firefox run with the --sync command line option, is important. It's great that the ATI proprietary driver doesn't crash, but it would be great to know why it crashed with the other driver (if I understand well, it's with the open source radeon driver that it's crashing?). So if you find time to run with --sync, that would be very helpful.

Regarding comment 26: we'll do what we reasonably can to avoid crashing with a given driver, but if we can't make sure that we avoid crashing, it's better to blacklist the driver (blocking WebGL but not other web technologies) rather than allow a random web page to crash firefox.
