when I type:

ls -l | gedit

I get the following errors first:

(gedit:8745): atk-bridge-WARNING **: AT_SPI_REGISTRY was not started at session startup.

(gedit:8745): atk-bridge-WARNING **: IOR not set.

(gedit:8745): atk-bridge-WARNING **: Could not locate registry

Then gedit opens with an empty buffer.
