mad_man: Sorry for the confusion, I mean the /upstream/ report was not for a netbook. I know this one is. :)
Just telling me that /sys/class/backlight/ is empty is enough information. That means the kernel has no control over your backlight! Can you tell me the output of "cat /proc/cmdline"? It seems like your netbook's brightness keys may be hardware-only, and the presses don't travel through the OS at all.
I still need an ls of /sys/class/backlight from a non-working case. Thanks!
