Daniel van Vugt (vanvugt) in Ubuntu 20.10 the Frequent apps have been removed. As reported in #33, this solves the problem. It would be nice if in a future version of 20.04 LTS it is disabled by default.

Use dconf and set to false /org/gnome/desktop/privacy/remember-app-usage
