Well i have now tried the latest gnome-shell 3.23.91-0ubuntu2 and mutter 3.23.91-0ubuntu1.1.
Those did not help, still blackscreen.
I also found tty in tty6.
Downgraded to 3.23.90 and all is well again.
This bug definitely persists with Intel Haswell GPU hardware.
