Nothing breaks. There is no objection; in fact, the Ubuntu Technical Board
explicitly said this was OK:

The only thing which is holding back this change is that it has not found
its way to an Ubuntu developer with the time, ability and willingness to
effect the change: this is a problem of resources, not of policy.
