Besides that the message shows sda2, the wipping function from grub-installer uses [1] an auxiliary program called prep-bootdev to search for the PReP partition.

It seems that prep-bootdev is not returning the PReP partition:

Jan 28 09:48:45 grub-installer: info: Wiping PReP partition
Jan 28 09:48:45 grub-installer: dd: invalid number ''

Can I test it using pole2lp2?
