Confirmed, you have to replace the bootia32.efi when making USB, BUT when you install from USB with the following method, it does boot:
Select: Try Ubuntu without installing
On the desktop click: Install Ubuntu
In the options choose: Erase the disk and install Ubuntu
(that option may not be desirable for all users!)
