It seems to me like this has reportedly been fixed in BIOS changes or caused by other hardware issues, so I'm going to close this as Invalid (because we don't know exactly what fixed it), as well as since this is an old bug.

Marco, if you're still seeing this issue on newer releases than 10.10 (which is no longer supported); please file a separate bug, making sure you do so using "ubuntu-bug", so that all the necessary information is automatically included. That way we can more easily fix the particular issue you're seeing.
