WIth me, the problem only occurs with ubuntu when I use automated gdm login. I solved it by removing ≃/home/XXXX/.gnome2/keyrings/default.keyring and restarting empathy, then the default keyring asks for a new pasword I use no password (empty) and then it works, but when I fill in a password , it doesn't works.
But I pressume this is bad for security considerations...
