That's hardly a "just". Remember that Ubuntu is for everyone, not just people who know how to tweak their bootloaders, or even understand how to get to the grub boot menu. It's unreasonable for all Ubuntu desktop users everywhere to have to jump through these hoops. Let's try and avoid it happening.
