Just to add my two cents: There is a well-established paradigm in window placement that has worked well for Apple, Microsoft, and Unix desktops for many years. Don't be so quick to throw it away for plasmoids. The rezoom and rotate buttons are cute -- they may even be natural for certain operations -- but when arranging (mostly) rectangular boxes on the screen, we have years of experience placing the two corners of the window.

Same goes with the placement of the plasmoid handle(? what used to be called window decorations); when is this on the top, right, left, or bottom? The principle of least surprise says window decorations always appear on the top (99% of window managers agree). Since plasmoids can be rotated (no natural top), maybe this should always appear on all sides? I occasionally struggle when the bar appears on the left of a large plasmoid when I wanted to access it on the right. Takes a few clicks to get the left one to hide and the right one to appear.

FWIW, when I first saw the rotate button, I thought it was a "reset zoom" button, not something you clicked and dragged.
